Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj visited Trimbakeshwar during his invasion of Surat on the second day of Paush Shuddhya.On 1 December 1661, the king of Jawhar came to meet Vikram Shah. Vikram Shah had erected a large tent on a hill near Jawhar. A large court was held here. A treaty and friendship were negotiated between Shivaji Maharaj and Vikram Shah. After this, Vikram Shah himself planted the crown of Shivaji Maharaj’s head on his head. That place is today’s Shirpamala.
