Wada taluka is included in Wada subdivision of Palghar district. It is located in the eastern part of Palghar district. Wada taluka shares its southeastern border with Thane district, its eastern border with Mokhada taluka and its northern border with Vikramgad and Jawhar talukas. Wada taluka shares its western border with Palghar taluka and is 46 km from Palghar district headquarters Wada. As per the 2011 census, Wada taluka has a total population of 1,78,370, with a literacy rate of 63.15%. Wada taluka consists of 7 mandals namely Wada, Kudus, Kone, Kanchad, Khanivali, Met and Mandwa respectively.

The geographical area of ​​Wada taluka is 70,043 hectares and includes 172 revenue villages and 84 gram panchayats. The jurisdiction of Wada Nagar Panchayat covers the urban population of the city.

A notable religious site in Wada taluka is the ancient Shankar temple in Tilaase village. Every year, a fair is held at Tilaase temple on the occasion of Mahashivratri, which is attended by thousands of devotees. Nearby, there is also the famous Vitthal-Rukmini temple. Adjacent to Wada taluka are the Tansa, Bhatsa, Lower, Middle and Upper Vaitarna dams, which are major sources of drinking water supply for the cities of Mumbai and Thane. History

Wada Taluka was created during the British era and the British-era building of the Tehsil Office of the Wada Taluka headquarters was built in 1902 and is still in strong condition.

Cultural heritage

The majority of the population in Wada taluka consists of Warli, Katkari and Mahadev Koli tribes, who are classified as Scheduled Tribes. The tribal communities express their lifestyle through Warli art and Tarpa dance.

Warli painting has been preserved since the earliest times, i.e., since the time when man lived, i.e., for about 1100 years. In this painting, various customs of the tribal society as well as daily events, events in the daily life of the tribals, such as weddings, dances, festivals, events in nature, are beautifully depicted. These paintings are made without using any kind of chemical colors, using natural materials, such as soil, rice flour, vegetable dyes, and bamboo sticks. This art is a painting that sheds light on various aspects of the lifestyle of the tribals and this painting is in great demand in India as well as abroad.
