Wada taluka is included in Wada subdivision of Palghar district. It is located in the eastern part of Palghar district. Wada taluka shares its southeastern border with Thane district, its eastern border with Mokhada taluka and its northern border with Vikramgad and Jawhar talukas. Wada taluka shares its western border with Palghar taluka and is 46 km from Palghar district headquarters Wada. As per the 2011 census, Wada taluka has a total population of 1,78,370, with a literacy rate of 63.15%. Wada taluka consists of 7 mandals namely Wada, Kudus, Kone, Kanchad, Khanivali, Met and Mandwa respectively.
The geographical area of Wada taluka is 70,043 hectares and includes 172 revenue villages and 84 gram panchayats. The jurisdiction of Wada Nagar Panchayat covers the urban population of the city.
A notable religious site in Wada taluka is the ancient Shankar temple in Tilaase village. Every year, a fair is held at Tilaase temple on the occasion of Mahashivratri, which is attended by thousands of devotees. Nearby, there is also the famous Vitthal-Rukmini temple. Adjacent to Wada taluka are the Tansa, Bhatsa, Lower, Middle and Upper Vaitarna dams, which are major sources of drinking water supply for the cities of Mumbai and Thane. Wada is home to the largest wholesale firecracker market in Maharashtra.
